Meet historical San Francisco Landmark #104 – the Independent Wood Company building, built in 1907. Situated between Telegraph Hill and the commercial waterfront, this structure has seen a lot of change over 115 years, culminating in a sweeping office renovation by Mithun.
This two level brick building is now surrounded by the monumental Levi's Plaza, headquarters of Levi Straus Co. The complex was conceived by HOK in 1982 with sensitivity to the 1105 Battery site, continuing the rugged industrial character and predominant red brick.
Mithun reimagined the building to support multiple work styles, postures and group sizes from morning coffee to Friday happy hours. 1105 Battery now enjoys an entirely new life within this historic district of San Francisco.
"Krownlab delivered exactly what we were looking for in a custom bypass system."

A CUSTOM SOLUTION
The Oden bypass system operates six glass markerboard panels across large openings to kitchen and conference room. Several iterations of the layout were required before all priorities were met: panel weight rating, movement, and clear access.
This custom solution was integral to the overall project goals, and serves as a perfect example of how an older building can be revived through modern, innovative design.
UNIQUE ADJUSTMENT FEATURES
For high-use areas and heavy panels, the Oden system provides advanced engineering and long-term performance. For these installations commercial-grade hardware is essential.
Glass installations also typically require field adjustments, and Krownlab's Tru-Level System™ provides a suite of adjustment features in both the track and trolleys to handle any environment. In the end, everyone wins with a faster and more precise installation, from the property owner to the designer to the contractor.
