More Mounting Options, Less Clutter

The Oden sliding barn door hardware system in single and bi-parting configurations features a simple, modern design with truly concealed fasteners to maintain a clean track look.

Now, we are proud to offer a third configuration option—bypassing.

While most bypassing hardware require obtrusive metal braces to support the system, Oden's custom-extruded track features enough lateral rigidity to support bypassing configurations with the same hidden fasteners that give Oden its unique appearance. This means more attention where it should be, on your doors.

The bypass configuration can be installed in two ways. Install with a center mount to use door panels weighing up to 225 lb each for greater design freedom. While this method allows for heavier doors, the door panels will overlap by 10” to accommodate the center mounting point. This is the perfect solution for wider door openings where bigger, heavier panels are needed.

Install without the center mount for door panels weighing up to 150 lb for minimized door panel overlap. This more flexible method is the perfect solution for narrower door openings where every inch counts.

And all these options maintain the infinite adjustability of Oden's door stops. With just a twist of an Allen key—a unique feature to Krownlab systems—change your door travel in seconds.

Elegant, uncluttered bypassing doors—just one more way Krownlab architectural hardware leads an industry.

Krownlab’s Tru-Level™ System

Even the best sliding barn door hardware on the market won’t function or look right without a quality installation. That’s why we’ve developed the Tru-Level™ System, a suite of adjustment features to adapt to any jobsite. The Tru-Level™ System includes the patent-pending Track Adjustment Feature and the patent-pending Vertical Panel Adjustment Feature, two ways to easily dial in your sliding door hardware for easy, quick, and most importantly, perfect installs.

Track Adjustment Feature

The Track Adjustment Feature component within the Tru-Level™ System absorbs the inevitable inaccuracies at the jobsite. Drilling a line of perfectly level holes with correct spacing is vital to ensuring a level track and smooth, consistent door travel. However, any installer knows that this can be the hardest thing to do in the field. We’ve solved for this. Our custom-extruded track was designed with a series of ridges that mate with a specialized washer plate—all hidden behind our track cover for a seamless, floating effect—to give ¼” adjustment at each mounting point. You can even tweak the height of the track at the mounting points after installation. It all adds up to a perfectly level sliding door system, even without perfectly drilled holes.

Vertical Panel Adjustment Feature

The second part of the Tru-Level™ System is the Vertical Panel Adjustment Feature in all Face Mount and Glass Mount configurations. This innovative feature allows you to control floor to door panel clearance with up to ¼” of play, even after installation. This is especially helpful for installs where:

Sliding Door Hardware in Three Configurations

Sliding barn doors are an iconic and useful element in modern design. They minimize dead space caused by door travel, are better for ADA access, and easily transform two static-use rooms into one living, adaptable space that can be divided or opened up according to need. Krownlab offers sliding door hardware in three configuration to fit projects with varying amounts of wall space and a wide array of intended uses. Between Single, Bi-Parting, and Bypassing, there is a Krownlab sliding door hardware solution to fit the project.

Single Door Configuration

Our Single Door Configuration is our most popular and is available with all of our sliding door hardware systems. Use oversized door panels to create an adaptable space that can easily change between open or divided depending on need. Create large, custom door panels to add design detail and tie in to overall interior decor. With Krownlab’s wide range of door panel weight capacities—the Oden, Baldur, and Ragnar sliding door hardware systems handle door panels of up to 400 lb—enjoy complete design freedom.

Making A Modern Office with Sliding Barn Door Hardware for Glass

When we moved into our new building in the Northwest Industrial district, we used glass walls throughout. Glass walls are the perfect way to update an industrial building with modern elements. We used our Oden sliding door hardware system for the entrance. Take a moment to see our work.

Oden was designed with glass in mind. We know that glass is not a forgiving material to work with, which is why we’ve built flexibility into the system. Our door stops are continually adjustable and can be set anywhere on the track. Krownlab’s trolleys can be adjusted on the jobsite in a number of directions. Set the exact distance between the fixed glass panel and the moving panel to clear any obstructions on the jobsite and install acoustic seals to control noise pollution. With systems compatible with glass panels between ⅜” and ¾” thick, pick the right glass thickness for your project.

Not only do sliding barn door systems have a modern aesthetic, they are compatible with fully frameless glass panels and glass walls, go-to modern office elements. And because sliding door systems work so well with glass, you can incorporate more of it into your design. This gives you the option of using local glass and easily upping your LEED ranking.

Why 10 Years

The Numbers Behind 10

We make our sliding barn door hardware to the highest industry standards. Our 10-year warranty stands toe-to-toe with any product on the market and matches most other construction warranties. Our confidence behind our warranty comes from precision engineering and manufacturing, an everyday commitment to quality, and—perhaps most importantly—exacting testing procedures.

Teaming with LiftMaster

We teamed with LiftMaster to create a testing system that could put our hardware through the most strenuous, constant wear trials possible. This testing system is able to run multiple hardware setups simultaneously with loads of up to 400 lbs each. While the testing system operates, we examine everything about our sliding door hardware systems from performance to aesthetic. We are relentless in throwing anything that isn’t perfect, in function or appearance, back on the drawing board.

How We Measure Use

Each one of our systems, from Axel to Baldur, has been tested through 130,000 open and close cycles. Why this specific number? This is the equivalent of 10 years of heavy, commercial use. Let’s say you have a conference room that is used for 12 meetings a weekday with the door opened and closed twice during each meeting. That is 48 cycles each day, 261 work days a year, for 125,280 cycles in 10 years. Each one of our sliding hardware systems has passed that lofty mark. The result is a warranty that isn’t just a random number, isn’t a projected product life cycle, but a fact backed by extensive, rigorous testing.

Sometimes the most important thing is what you can’t see

Two years ago, we poured all our accumulated knowledge about sliding door hardware into one comprehensive project. Our goal was to create the very best product on the market. A huge effort went into the track—an element that is not given a lot of thought in most sliding door hardware systems. For our product design team, it was an untapped avenue to improve our industry-leading sliding door hardware systems. The result is a clean, wall-kissing sliding door track that stands out for what it hides.

Truly Concealed Fasteners

While our track appears to be of one, solid piece, like many others on the market, it actually hides a highly engineered system within. Pop off the military-grade aluminum alloy track cover to reveal our Tru-Leveling™ adjustment feature. This ingenious device allows for a full ¼” of adjustment in any direction, even after you install your hardware. What does this mean? Faster, perfect installations on the jobsite and no holes to patch afterwards.

Infinitely Adjustable Door Stops

The position of most sliding door stops are dictated by where the track fastens to the wall. This is an extremely cumbersome and error-prone system that can make reconciling the installation plan with actual job site conditions a pain. We freed you from this by designing our doorstops to be infinitely adjustable. With a twist of an Allen wrench, you can literally slide the Krownlab door stop to anywhere on the track. This gives you the freedom to fit the door travel to the space—even when it changes—perfectly.

What to Consider When You Use Door Pulls On Sliding Doors

We offer three families of door pulls: Ebba, Olav, and Inger. Each have distinct features to consider when choosing the right door pull for your project. And with multiple finishes available for each, no matter what your project calls for, there is the perfect Krownlab door pull solution.

For Maximum Opening Width

In some installations you need your sliding door to open to the maximum width. For this you‘ll select a low-profile door pull so there is no impediment. You can even configure door travel so that when your door is opened at its widest, the door panel and the wall are even.

The Ebba is our ring-style door pull and sits almost flush with the panel. It is available in two different configurations. In the open setup, Ebba provides a knothole glimpse of the adjoining room. Closed, the hardware has more surface area to showcase our premium material, while maintaining a deep gripping surface. Both configurations protrude a scant 3/16” from the door panel and are the perfect match for any of our stainless steel sliding door systems.

What Stops My Sliding Door

Your sliding door travel is controlled when the trolley hits a door stop attached to the track or the door panel impacts a bottom stop attached to the floor. You can employ either method, or use both. Find out how both of our stopping systems work below:

Door Stops

Ragnar is our newest line of sliding door hardware and features an industry-first: continuous fast and easy door travel adjustability, even after install. Ragnar door stops fit into a bottom channel that runs the length of the track. Move door stops to anywhere along the track with just a few turns of the included Allen wrench.

Our Oden, Baldur, Axel and Rob Roy sliding door systems have door stops integrated into their mounting points. This means that you can install a door stop at any one of the mounting points along your track. However, if your mounting point proves to be too close or too far away from the end of the track for preferred door travel, you can fine-tune by installing your trolleys at different spots on the door panel. The farther from the edge of the panel you install your trolleys, the more your door panel will go beyond the door stop.

Q & A: CNC Machining

Machined parts and pieces surround each of us every day, yet rarely do we stop to consider the process that goes into their creation. Since Krownlab sliding barn door systems contain a number of machined parts, we thought it would be interesting to sit down with one of our engineers and discuss the basics of the CNC machining process.

What are the benefits of a CNC machined parts versus being simply cast?

Castings only provide the rough geometry of parts. The main advantage of casting is that solid, complex shapes can be formed in a single step eliminating wasted material that would otherwise be carved away in machining steps.

Keeping Your Door Aligned, Top to Bottom

When looking at sliding barn door hardware, your eye typically starts with the track. Barn door track systems have a tendency to make you think that they're doing all the work. In fact, the track and the trolleys do handle the weight load and the movement of the door. However, there is another critical piece to the system. It is small, yet incredibly important-- the bottom guide. Let's take a look at our barn door bottom guides for both wood and glass panels.

What is a barn door bottom guide? The purpose of the bottom guide is to keep the door plumb, preventing it from swinging and damaging the wall or baseboard. Sliding door guides simply help the door to travel in a straight line and are not load-bearing in any way.

  • For wood (or similar material) panels: The door panel travels on top of the guide. We include a 1/2” diameter bottom guide pin.

  • For glass (or similar material) panels: The door panel travels inside the guide. We include a small, sleek, stainless steel
    c-channel.

How is a sliding door guide installed? Both our bottom guide pin and small c-channel door guides are intended to be installed in the floor.

Timeless style, lasting quality

What good comes of offering a warranty on a product whose design is obsolete before the warranty period expires? Offering a [ten-year warranty on our sliding barn door hardware is only legitimate if you continue to be thrilled with our hardware long after it has become your hardware. Our goal is to create products that not only physically stand up to the test of time, but aesthetically withstand the test, too.

Starting with a foundation rooted in good design, our team has developed a sliding door track product line that will move through the decades (no pun intended) in harmony with your space. The image to the right (from a nearly ten-year-old article in Dwell magazine), features our sliding hardware specified not only as a functional fixture, but as an architectural detail meant to enhance the design wherever time may lead.

How do we know sliding doors are not a fad? Because the design challenge of dividing and uniting spaces will forever require innovative, specialized, and timeless solutions. Our original prototype (pictured, right) continues to be discovered and loved. We provide the structure that has near limitless pairing options to continue meeting changes within the world of design.

What about our warranty? We're an industry leader in the ten-year warranty we provide on all of our track systems for sliding doors.

Stainless Steel: Origins in Iron

At Krownlab, we understand that all quality hardware begins with quality materials. Stainless steel is the backbone of our Ragnar, Oden, Rob Roy, and Baldur lines-- we thought we'd share some insight as to why.

Stainless steel starts its life as carbon steel, an alloy consisting of iron ore and a small percentage of carbon and manganese. From this base alloy over 3,500 different grades of steel (1,500 of which are stainless) are produced according to the World Steel Association. The built environment truly owes its existence to this metal.

To achieve stainless status, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum elements are added to the carbon steel alloy. As the percentage of each additional element is changed, so are the properties of the stainless as well as the series/grade.
